This year’s International Roma Day celebrations took place in the cities of Opava and Krnov. Nature trails in Opava (Městské sady, Ptačí vrch) and Krnov (Smetanovy sady) have been prepared for the general public. By wandering on the trails, people could get acquainted with the history, customs and interesting things from the life of the Roma. They could learn, for example, what kind of wandering is, who is the Chohani or Guli daj, or they could try the traditional preparation of Romani dishes and much more. The ceremony took place on Friday, April 8, 2022 in the garden at the NZDM Club Modrá kočka in Opava. Here, small refreshments were prepared for the visitors, a bouncy castle for children, competitions, a creative corner, face painting. Above all, the celebrations were accompanied by singing, music, playing musical instruments and dances. Girls from the NZDM Caravan in Krnov, as well as children attending the NZDM Blue Cat Club in Opava, performed. Roma, children and adults were involved in the organization of the event and due to the nice weather the event attracted 60 inhabitants with children.
