On December 12, 2023, a talent competition called SHOW WHAT YOU CAN was held for the 7th year. The competition presented the incredible talent and creativity of children and youth aged 6 to 20 from the entire Moravian-Silesian region. This year it took place on the premises of the Minorite Monastery in Opava, and the pre-Christmas atmosphere attracted many spectators and audiences from the wider area. The competition was held in order to celebrate and support promising individuals, to experience a sense of success and, above all, to connect the majority with the minority and get to know the Roma culture.
At the beginning, the participants and spectators were warmly welcomed by the organizers of the event, who were then replaced by a young moderator and a budding rapper from Krnov, and together they started the next year of this competition.
The participants of the competition demonstrated a wide range of talents, from playing a musical instrument, singing, various types of dances, gymnastics, to musicals. 26 beautiful performances were seen during the competition. A total of 130 children performed, although far more were registered, but the performances were canceled due to illness. A panel of experts and experienced individuals in the field of the given talents evaluated the performances based on originality, technical skills and social background.
The whole event was enriched by a raffle with prizes and an accompanying singing performance. At the end, the jury announced the classic three locations of the winners, and there was also the awarding of the sympathy prize and the courage prize. Refreshments and diplomas and rewards for participation were prepared for all participants.
